Imagine a place where youth have the freedom to create possibility, the opportunity to discover their potential and the will to engage their community. Imagine an environment where each kid has a valuable role and defined responsibility in a successful community. Renway is a place where real world experiences prepare them for success in school, work, and life, while having fun!
Welcome to Renway..a city imagined, created, and run by youth!
The Microsociety After School program is a research proven, innovative program where kids create a microcosm of the real world in an after-school setting. In the Microsociety program at the Renton/Skyway Boys & Girls Club, all youth have a valuable role and defined responsibility in a creating a successful community. At the Club real world experiences motivate youth to learn skills that are proven to prepare them for success in school, work and life.
At the Club all youth have a ‘job’ or provide leadership to their peers through a government within the Club. Real world experiences like earning a ‘pay check’, having a bank account, buying a snack at the café and shopping at the Club Marketplace all provide youth with the opportunity to see how school day learning can benefit them in a real life setting. Kids have FUN while applying real life skills.

“I could go to work and have no fears—I knew my child was in a safe and loving place. I’ll never let my kids forget about the Club because they taught them about so much more…they taught them about love and they taught them about integrity.”
– Club parent Nate Miles
